Alex Davies named as Warwickshire's new captain

Alex Davies has been named as the new captain of Warwickshire, following Will Rhodes' decision to step down after four years in the role.

Davies, 29, has played in excess of 50 senior counterparts for the club across designs since joining from Lancashire in 2021, and in last season's Essentialness Impact, he drove the side to ten successes out of ten in the wake of venturing into the gig following Moeen Ali's startling Cinders review.

His advancement comes close by another agreement that will keep him basically for the rest of 2026, and he's promised to "give without question, everything" to the club's quest for flatware.

"My superseding feeling is pride, It's an honor captaining any club at any level, however to chief a club however large as Warwickshire seems to be a colossal honor, "he said. "Edgbaston has become home to me. I will not be forgetting about anything there on the pitch, I'll do the best that I can with it.

Warwickshire's Presentation Chief Gavin Larsen added: "I'm more than happy that Al acknowledged the captaincy job. We've had a decent review of how he works after he captained for the majority of the T20 last year. Al was effective, famous with players, imparted magnificently, and worked cooperatively with the mentors.

"Al was consistently major areas of strength for a for commander given his bad habit chief experience the year before. He unquestionably showed the appropriate qualities to take over should the open door emerge.

"The commander, at last, may be on par with his group. What a decent chief can do is draw out the best in his players and Al exhibited that the previous summer in the Impact. He's an extrovert, and will currently be plotting the way that he can assist with taking this incredible club forward."

A choice will be made on the T20 captaincy once Moeen Ali's Indian Head Association and Britain responsibilities are concluded.
