Anrich Nortje, Sisanda Magala ruled out of World Cup

Fast bowlers Anrich Nortje and Sisanda Magala have been ruled out of the 2023 ODI World Cup with injuries. They have been replaced by Andile Phehlukwayo and Lizaad Williams in South Africa's 15-man squad for the tournament that begins in India on October 5.

Nortje has a thought pressure crack of the back in the wake of encountering fits during the second ODI against Australia recently. Magala, who played just the third ODI against Australia and went for 1 for 46 out of four overs, has a left-knee injury.

"It's enormously frustrating for Anrich and Sisanda to be passing up the 50-over World Cup," South Africa's mentor Burglarize Walter said. "We identify in their oversight and will keep on offering all the fundamental help as they pursue their re-visitation of cutthroat activity.

"This gives an open door to Andile and Lizaad on the worldwide stage. The two players have been essential for our colder time of year programs as well as having addressed South Africa in the new white-ball visit against Australia. They offer incredible ranges of abilities and we're eager to have them complete the 15-player crew during the current year's Reality Cup."

Nortje's nonappearance is a significant blow for South Africa as he is their fastest bowler with significant involvement with India, where he plays for Delhi Capitals in the IPL. He played in the Significant Association Cricket competition in the USA over the South African winter and was refreshed for the T20Is against Australia. He was then governed out of the primary ODI however played the second, bowling just five overs prior to leaving the field. He missed the third game after he was sent for filters and was then administered out of the series.

Magala had not played any cricket since parting the webbing in his grasp at the IPL toward the beginning of April and was in this manner governed out of the T20Is against Australia with infrapatellar tendinopathy - torment in the ligament that associates the kneecap to the shin bone. He encountered uneasiness in the knee again in the wake of playing one ODI against Australia.

South Africa leave for India on September 23, and play their warm-up games against Afghanistan on September 29 and New Zealand on October 2. Their most memorable round of the competition is against Sri Lanka on October 7.
