BCB resorts to legal measures against BPL franchises yet to clear dues

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced its intention to initiate legal proceedings against BPL franchises that have failed to fulfill their financial commitments, despite multiple reminders. With the exception of Fortune Barishal and Rangpur Riders—both of whom have settled their dues—all other franchises remain in default. "The Governing Council has resolved to take legal action against franchises that have not honored their financial agreements," read a statement from the BCB following a recent BPL meeting focused on player payments and revenue allocation from the 11th edition of the tournament. "This move underlines the BCB's determination to uphold contractual discipline and protect the league’s credibility." The league has already faced turbulence this year, notably with Durbar Rajshahi, who sparked controversy by not paying their players. The unresolved dues led to a boycott of practice sessions by several overseas players during the tournament. This year also marked a significant first: the BCB’s decision to share revenues with franchises. After scrutinizing submitted financial records and proof of payments, the board agreed to distribute a share of ticket sales to teams that have met their player payment obligations. "For the first time, the BCB will share revenue from gate receipts with BPL franchises," the statement noted. "This distribution, slated for release before Eid-ul-Adha, will be contingent on verified payment confirmations from the players involved."
