Bravo backs Russell, admits KKR batters have 'lost confidence'

Dwayne Bravo, the Mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders, admitted that the batters failed to assess the conditions well and apply themselves better following the loss against Gujarat Titans at the Eden Gardens on Monday. KKR were restricted to 159 for 8 in their pursuit of 199 for victory. Bravo acknowledged after the defeat, "I think the bowlers, first of all, did a fantastic job restricting them under 200." "Shubhman Gill and Sai batted very well, but our bowling group really brought it back and gave us a chance at the halfway point, which is a credit to them. I believe our team was happier. "Unfortunately, we did not get the powerplay start we wanted. After that, they slowed us down in the middle, and it was obvious that we made a mistake in the end." In the powerplay, where they only scored 45 runs and lost both of their openers, the Kolkata Knight Riders struggled to gain momentum. At that point in their innings, Gujarat Titans also had a score that was similar to that, but their two openers were still in the middle. However, KKR were restricted, in contrast to Titans, who were able to increase their scoring rate throughout the innings. Venkatesh Iyer and Ajnkya Rahane only scored 23 runs in the four overs following the powerplay. Iyer continued to struggle while Rahane hit a few boundaries. Midway through the 13th over, both batters were dismissed quickly, leaving KKR at 91 for 4. The task was too difficult, even though the hosts had only one firepower in the death, with Moeen Ali, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Ramandeep Singh, and Impact Substitute Angkrish Raghuvanshi following. Russell's flurry of sixes provided hope for a brief time, but R Sai Kishore and Prasidh Krishna soon took control. He gave in to Rashid Khan once more. This season, Russell's destructive abilities haven't been much of a help to KKR, and he was once again dismissed by a legspinner with a 15-ball 21 on the night. However, Bravo maintained his support for the West Indian and dispelled concerns regarding his performance against legspin. Russell has a lot of playing experience. He is an excellent player. He has been eliminated by the leg spinners after just a few games. However, I don't believe we had the team bat properly. Thus, that is the situation. Russell isn't the only one having trouble right now. However, as a group, we must ensure that the players continue to work hard, practice, prepare well, and attempt to maintain mental focus. "The IPL is a tough competition. Additionally, batsmen experience a period of confidence loss after a poor start. Additionally, that is what is taking place right now. We just need to keep backing them, and let's hope they succeed." He insisted that the finishers will be able to perform their duties more effectively if the top order bats well. Bravo acknowledged that the KKR batters are experiencing a period of low confidence following a string of subpar performances. Leg spinners are not present on every team. And then, naturally, Rashid Khan, one of the good players, today. However, you should be aware that the run rate is 14-15 each time Russell comes into the game. Therefore, top-level work needs to be completed so that he can finish games as he has done for KKR in the past. He does, indeed, occasionally escape with the assistance of leg spinners. However, I don't think that's a major issue. I just decided that in order for our finishers to finish cricket games, we need to bat better. Again, the team that batted first posted a total that was higher than 190, in response to all of the requests for tracks in Kolkata that are suitable for spinners. However, Bravo was unwilling to consider pitch as the reason for the defeat. He stated, "The wicket is in good shape." "I would not visit this location to discuss the wicket. We didn't play a good game of cricket, and I think both teams play on the wicket. So definitely if we don't play in the three facets of the game, good, and the other team play better, more likely they will win. Therefore, I am unconcerned and the wicket is unharmed.
