Fast-Bowling Crisis: Lockie Ferguson Ruled Out of T20I Series as New Zealand Suffer Fresh Injury Blow

Ferguson Ruled Out: New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson has been ruled out of the remainder of the T20I series against India after sustaining a low-grade tear in his right calf during the second T20I in Christchurch. He will need about a week of recovery.

Squad Replacement: Matthew Fisher, who was initially called up as cover for the third T20I and set to feature against India A, will remain with the T20I squad for the rest of the series. Brett Randell has replaced Fisher in the New Zealand A squad.

Fast bowlers Matt Henry and Kyle Jamieson, who are also missing the rest of the T20I series with niggles, remain on track to be available for the ODI series that starts on November 4 in Auckland. Both are undergoing "planned workload management", which means fast bowlers are being moved around in and out of the New Zealand squad for the ongoing tour.

Planned Workload Management: Both Matt Henry and Kyle Jamieson are sitting out the rest of the T20I series due to minor niggles as part of a managed workload ahead of a heavy summer schedule.

ODI Availability: Both pacers remain on track to return for the five-match ODI series starting November 4 in Auckland. Henry picked up a low-grade tear in his right quadricep during the second T20I and requires 1–2 weeks of recovery.

Jamieson will play for Canterbury in their second-round Ford Trophy match on Saturday before rejoining the national side on Monday.
