Gleeson called up to England's T20I squad

England have given a lady T20I hit as long as 34-year-old Lancashire seamer Richard Gleeson for the impending three-match series against India, beginning July 7. Gleeson is presently the second-most elevated wicket-taker in the continuous T20 Blast 2022 with 20 scalps in 12 games at a normal of 16.10.

Previous Test chief Joe Root gets back to the ODI overlay following a hole of a year, having last played a 50-overs game for England against Sri Lanka last July. Thus, Dawid Malan passes up an ODI spot and has been incorporated for just for the T20I series. Luke Wood and David Payne likewise both been disregarded from England's last ODI task, in the Netherlands last month.

The crews will be driven by Jos Buttler, who was on Thursday raised to the white-ball captaincy following Eoin Morgan's new retirement. In that capacity, Harry Brook comes in as a like-for-like swap for the previous captain in both the line-ups.

Spinner Adil Rashid, in the mean time, has been conceded consent to miss both the white-ball series to make the Hajj journey to Mecca, while legspinner Matthew Parkinson is in line to get back in the saddle in the wake of being named in both the crews.

Since the T20I series starts off just a short time after the planned finish of the rescheduled fifth Test in Edgbaston, the white-ball regulars in the Test crew have all been refreshed for the T20Is. All things considered, Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow and Root will make a return for the three-match ODI series that follows.

The three match ODI series starts at the Kia Oval on July 12. The excess two games will be played at Lord's and in Manchester onJuly 14 and 17 separately.
