Gunathilaka arrested in Sydney for alleged sexual assault

Danushka Gunathilaka has been captured in Sydney for supposed rape, Sri Lanka Cricket affirmed on Sunday (November 6). The Sri Lankan player was captured from the group inn and is expected to show up in court on Monday.

"SLC will intently screen the procedures in court and, in meeting with the ICC, will speedily start a careful investigation into the matter and make a harsh move against the player whenever viewed as blameworthy," SLC said in a proclamation.

The 31-year-old was prior managed out of the continuous T20 World Cup with a hamstring injury yet stayed with the crew in Australia. The New South Grains police in a proclamation affirmed that Gunathilaka has been accused of four counts of sex without assent.

"Recently (Saturday 5 November 2022), investigators from the State Wrongdoing Order's Sex Violations Crew and Eastern Rural areas Police Region Order started a joint examination under Strike Power Veteran following reports a 29-year-elderly person had been physically attacked at a home in Rose Straight recently," NSW police said. "The lady met with the man in the wake of speaking with him for various days through a web based dating application; it's supposed he then, at that point, physically attacked her on the night of Wednesday 2 November 2022.

"He was taken to Sydney City Police headquarters and accused of four counts of sex without assent. The Sri Lankan public was declined bail to show up at Parramatta Bail Court through AVL today."
