Guyana unbeaten streak ends as Shadab, Alzarri fire Falcons to No. 1
Shadab Khan's all-round star turn brought an end to Guyana Amazon Warriors' six-game winning streak in CPL 2026. Antigua and Barbuda Falcons posted 182/5 and then defended it comfortably to go top of the points table. However, the knockout stages have already been reached by both teams.
Shadab's efforts first came in the death overs with the bat. He arrived at 120/4 in 16.3 overs and relentlessly swung for the fences, propelling the team to 182 runs. His nine-ball 30* included a sequence of 6 6 6 4 in the final over from Romario Shepherd that cost the bowling side 26 runs. The Falcons started well through Karima Gore and Evin Lewis but lost both the openers by the eighth over.
Hasan Nawaz, who scored the most runs for the team with 36, and Amir Jangoo put together a 47-run stand to help the Falcons reach 100 runs in 14 overs. Shadab changed gears when this stand was broken just as the team was about to enter the final overs. Moeen Ali hit a few sixes in the area for a 12-ball 18, and Fabian Allen also hit one for an 11-ball.
Falcons' bowlers had a big total to work with thanks to Shadab's fireworks, which added 72 runs in the last 30 balls. It turned out to be significant enough to secure a crushing victory. Shadab was once again in the limelight, this time returning frugal figures of 2-19, with 13 dots in the spell. Warriors were blown out of the water with a combined bowling effort that also saw Alzarri Joseph pick four wickets.
In the Powerplay, opener Mavendra Dindyal's 13-ball 25 was the best batting performance in chase. Within the Powerplay, Warriors lost four wickets, including Shimron Hetmyer's. In the middle, Warriors scored 10 runs per over, but they crashed and burned their way to 100/8 in 10 overs. By the 15th, the innings was wrapped up for a meagre 117. Pakistani left-arm wrist spinner Sufyan Moqim took two wickets for 18 runs in three overs, while medium pacer Joshua James took 2-11, including the Falcons' crucial final wicket.
