Injury Doubt for Hayley Matthews Ahead of Final ODI Against England West Indies captain Hayley Matthews is in doubt for the third and final ODI of the series against England, scheduled for Saturday in Taunton, due to a left shoulder injury aggravated during a fall in the first ODI at Derby. Matthews missed the second ODI in Leicester, where West Indies suffered a heavy 143-run defeat, and will consult a specialist in London on Thursday to assess the extent of the injury. “Hopefully we’ll get some good news tomorrow,” said head coach Shane Deitz. Matthews has been a standout performer on the tour despite her side’s struggles. She was named Player of the Series in the 3-0 T20I loss, scoring 177 runs at an average of 88.50 and a strike rate of 137.20, including a brilliant unbeaten century in Canterbury and a strong all-round display in Chelmsford. Meanwhile, Qiana Joseph, who impressed with 62 runs in the first ODI, also missed the second match due to illness. However, Deitz remains optimistic about her return for the final game. “She got on the team bus and looked terrible so we sent her back to bed… I'm pretty sure she'll be right for the next game,” he added. England, having already secured the T20I series and a 2–0 lead in the ODIs, are on course for a clean sweep of the tour with one match remaining.
