ICC Hall of Fame Class of 2025: Dhoni, Hayden, Taylor, and Mir Among Legends
Dhoni, Amla, Hayden Among New ICC Hall of Fame Inductees; Sana Mir Creates History
MS Dhoni, Matthew Hayden, Daniel Vettori, Hashim Amla, Graeme Smith, Sarah Taylor, and Sana Mir have been inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, with the announcement made just two days ahead of the World Test Championship final at Lord’s.
Former Pakistan captain Sana Mir became the first woman from her country to receive the honour. One of the most decorated players in Pakistan's women's cricket history, Mir led her side in 72 ODIs and 65 T20Is, claiming 151 ODI wickets—the most by any Pakistani woman—and topping the ICC ODI bowling rankings in 2018.
"From dreaming as a little girl that one day there would even be a women's team in our country to now standing here, inducted among the very legends I idolised... this is a moment I couldn't have dared to imagine," Mir said.
Among the men's inductees, Dhoni's legendary leadership and finishing prowess, Amla's elegance and consistency, Hayden's explosive top-order dominance, and the longevity and influence of Smith, Vettori, and Taylor were recognised as part of this celebrated class.
The induction pays tribute to the profound impact these players have had on the global game—both on and off the field.
MS Dhoni Joins ICC Hall of Fame: Only Captain to Win All Three White-Ball ICC Trophies
Former India captain MS Dhoni has been inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, cementing his legacy as one of the game's most influential leaders. Dhoni, who led India to victories in the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy, remains the only captain in men’s cricket history to have won all three white-ball ICC titles.
His most iconic moment came in 2011, when he hit the winning six at Wankhede Stadium to end India's 28-year wait for a World Cup and make them the first team to win the title on home soil.
He played 350 ODIs, scoring over 10,000 runs at an average above 50, and was renowned for his composure, strategic brilliance, and finishing ability. Under his leadership, India also climbed to the top of the ICC Test rankings.
"To have your name remembered alongside such all-time greats is a wonderful feeling. It is something that I will cherish forever," Dhoni said on receiving the honour.
His induction comes ahead of the World Test Championship Final, adding a historical layer to the current pinnacle event.
