Jamieson rested for remainder of Bangladesh ODI series

Kyle Jamieson will sit out the second and third ODIs against Bangladesh "and will instead have a period of rest" ahead of the three-match T20I series. Meanwhile, Finn Allen has also been taken out of the squad for the second ODI to turn out for Auckland Aces in their Super Smash opener on Tuesday.

In an explanation, NZC said that the choice on Jamieson was made after he "encountered firmness in his hamstring following his appearance home from Bangladesh last week".

New Zealand were in Bangladesh for a two-Test series, which finished 1-1. Ben Singes, who had been gotten as cover for Jamieson before the ODI series, will remain on with the crew.

"There's a great deal of cricket in front of us and we need to ensure Kyle's in the most ideal spot without facing any pointless challenges," Gary Stead, the group mentor, said. "As we hailed while naming the ODI crew we consider the series to be an opportunity to give potential open doors to a few new players, and Ben fits that class."

Allen will miss simply the one ODI and will rejoin the crew for the third game.

Neither Jamieson nor Allen played the main ODI of the series against Bangladesh, in Dunedin on Sunday, which New Zealand won by 44 runs (DLS technique). Will Youthful and Tom Latham were the batting stars in that match, scoring 105 and 92 separately, as New Zealand piled up 239 for 7 in their 30 overs. Bangladesh were then limited to 200 for 9, with Adam Milne, Ish Sodhi and Josh Clarkson all getting two wickets each.

The second ODI will be played in Nelson on Wednesday.
