Kolkata and Delhi Trade Test Matches in India's Upcoming Home Season
Venue Swaps Confirmed for India’s 2024-25 Home Season
The BCCI has confirmed a series of venue changes for India’s upcoming international fixtures as part of the 2024-25 home season.
The second Test between India and West Indies in October has been moved from Eden Gardens, Kolkata to Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi.
In a reciprocal switch, Kolkata will now host the first Test against South Africa from November 14–18, which was originally slated for Delhi.
The board also announced that Chennai will no longer host the three women’s ODIs against Australia in September. The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) cited preparations for next year’s Men’s T20 World Cup, including pitch and outfield relaying, as the reason for withdrawing.
Further details about revised venues for the women's ODIs and additional fixture logistics are expected in due course.
BCCI Confirms Further Venue Changes for 2024–25 Season
The BCCI has finalised additional venue changes ahead of India’s 2024–25 home season, affecting women's ODIs, 'A' tours, and the build-up to the Women's World Cup.
Women's ODIs: India vs Australia (Sept 14–20)
Originally slated for Chennai, the three-match ODI series will now be held at:
New Chandigarh (PCA New Stadium) – 1st & 2nd ODIs
Delhi (Arun Jaitley Stadium) – 3rd ODI
The shift comes after TNCA withdrew, citing pitch and outfield work ahead of the 2026 Men's T20 World Cup.
New Chandigarh was awarded the fixtures partly as compensation for being dropped as a host venue for the 2025 Women’s World Cup.
India A vs South Africa A
The three one-dayers originally scheduled in Bengaluru will now take place at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.
Bengaluru has been retained as one of five host cities for the 2025 Women’s World Cup and will host the opener and final, unless Pakistan qualifies—then the final will be held in Colombo, as with all Pakistan games.
Centre of Excellence Makes Debut
The BCCI’s new Centre of Excellence near Bengaluru will host its first first-class matches, as it stages the two India A vs South Africa A four-day games from October 30 to November 10.
These changes reflect the logistical and political balancing act involved in preparing for both a major women's ICC event and the ongoing international calendar.
