Lost three wickets more than what we desired: Shadman Islam

Although he acknowledges that it could have been better, Shadman Islam thinks Bangladesh is in an excellent position going into the Chattogram Test. The hosts ended the second day up by 64 runs with three wickets remaining. A 118-run opening partnership between Shadman (120) and Anamul Haque (39), the team's first century opening partnership in 33 innings, had Bangladesh coasting. In the last session, the visitors rallied back after the hosts reached 205 for 3 at tea. Bangladesh ended the day at 279 for 7, with Wessly Madhevere's direct hit dismissing Mushfiqur Rahim and debutant leg-spinner Vincent Masekesa taking three wickets. "We were in a strong position until we abruptly fell apart. In Chattogram, Shadman told reporters, "We could have set a better score differently." "I could have spent more time in the middle of the field. Although we got a little lost, I believe we were in a terrific position as well. We perhaps lost three more wickets than we had hoped for. If not, we would already be up by 100 runs," he stated. "Hopefully they can add a few more runs to expand our lead to maybe around hundred runs tomorrow," he continued, adding that Miraz and Taijul bhai were still present. Even though he seemed to struggle occasionally, Shadman said Anamul Haque, who was making a comeback after three years, performed well in the middle. "Anamul has a great deal of cricketing experience. He consistently scores runs. He got us off to a great start today.
