Masterclass in Hobart: Matthew Short and Campbell Kellaway Lead Victoria to Bonus-Point Win

Victoria's Dominant Win: Victoria secured a comprehensive 138-run victory (via the DLS method) over Tasmania in their One-Day Cup clash in Hobart. First Innings Total: Asked to bat first, Victoria posted a formidable total of 304 for 7 off their 50 overs, anchored by strong top-order partnerships.

Rain-Affected Chase: Rain interrupted Tasmania's innings, revising their target to 276 runs from 35 overs. However, they were completely dismantled, getting bundled out for just 137 in 25.2 overs.

Key Batting Performances

Matthew Short: Led the charge for Victoria at the top of the order, scoring a fluent 70 off 91 deliveries to press his claims for national white-ball selection.

Australia selectors will be hoping the 23-year-old Kellaway can use the knock as a season turning point. Kellaway has been touted as a future Test batter but has struggled to pile on the runs in Sheffield Shield cricket, making just 70 runs in four innings this summer and two in total for Australia A against India A. He made 506 runs at 26.78 last summer with one century.

Campbell Kellaway: Contributed an impressive 69 runs, sharing a crucial 79-run second-wicket partnership with Short after an initial 92-run opening stand between Short and Thomas Rogers.

Tasmania's Innings: Opener Caleb Jewell carried his bat to remain unbeaten on 47, while returning T20 star Tim David—playing his first List A match for Tasmania since 2021—was dismissed for 13 after the required run rate spiked past 10 per over.

Bowling Brilliance

Mitch Perry's Spell: Named Player of the Match, Mitch Perry put on a lethal bowling display, claiming 2 for 6 in his opening five overs before finishing with career-best figures of 4 for 9 off 6 overs.

Quick Support: Debutant fast bowler Matt Hennig chipped in with a vital breakthrough, removing Tim David during Tasmania's collapse.
