Monank Patel's swashbuckling ton obliterates Bahamas
The United States of America defeated the Bahamas in yet another lopsided match by a massive 149 runs. By scoring his first T20I century, Captain Monank Patel led the American batting display. The Bahamas bowlers were sent on a leather hunt that may be painfully etched in their minds for some time after Monank bulldozed his way to 104 off 49 deliveries. Bahamas gave up early in their attempt to score 218 runs, struggling through all 20 overs and scoring only 68 runs in the end. Rahul Jariwala shines in his debut T20I After playing a few one-day internationals, twenty-year-old Rahul Jariwala was infamously dropped from the national spotlight about three years ago. Jariwala was able to eliminate attacks domestically, but on the international stage, he was unable to match those results. Even though he was playing a lowly ranked Bahamas team in his T20I debut, he showed signs of that promise. He was off the ground quickly with a flurry of boundaries in the powerplay, showing no nerves. This set the stage for Monank to continue the devastation. Monank keeps up his run-fest. The skipper was back to punish some very ordinary bowling from the Bahamas a day after leading USA to a commanding victory over Cayman Islands with a whirlwind 76. He scored 19 off the final over of the powerplay to put himself in fifth gear right away, making it easy pickings in the powerplay against Romaine Smith's military medium pace. Jariwala fell trying to emulate his skipper in the 10th over, holing out at long-on off Sandeep Goud after Monank had clattered a boundary and a straight six that soared over the ropes earlier in the same over. In the subsequent over, Monank scored his fifty with consecutive boundaries off Goud, reaching the landmark with an unusual scoop shot. He celebrated the occasion with a champagne shot over long-off that carried for six seconds later. Aaron Jones used Marc Taylor's offspin as cannon fodder, peppering the cow corner with three sixes in a row. During his brief stay, Jones kept his foot on the gas, but he ended up falling for 35 after skying one to the additional cover fence off Kervon Hinds. Monank appeared to have changed into his T20 avatar, using his footwork with initiative frequently and occasionally using the switch hit successfully. In light of the superior batsmanship in the opposing camp, he scored his hundred in just 44 deliveries to propel the United States to an unsustainable 217. The extensive meander The batsmen of the Bahamas were unable to respond to the intimidating demand of 218 made by the USA. Opening acts Festus Benn and Marc Taylor largely lacked intention. After Benn left due to a mix-up between the two, USA won in the fifth over. In the seventh over of an attempted slog sweep off Vatsal Vaghela, Ryan Tappin skied a straightforward catch to cover. Taylor's resistance was ended when Ayan Desai defeated him in the subsequent round. Within minutes of Taylor's fall, Eugene Duff ran himself out as the wickets fell in a canter. At the halfway point, the outcome was certain, and Bahamas needed a whopping 176 runs in 10 overs with just six wickets left. Because the Bahamas had closed their shop, USA had to play middle overs until the 20th over.
