Najmul Hossain Shanto back in Bangladesh T20I squad for Asian Games

Bangladesh have recalled senior batter Najmul Hossain Shanto to their T20 squad for the upcoming Asian Games to be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. Shanto, who recently led Bangladesh to a famous Test win against Australia in Darwin, is the most noteworthy inclusion in a full-strength 15-man squad for the Games later this month.

Litton Das returns to lead Bangladesh, having missed their two most recent T20 endeavors - against Australia at home due to an injury, and in Zimbabwe to fulfill his Lanka Premier League commitments. Towhid Hridoy, who led Bangladesh in the aforementioned series, will serve as vice-captain. With Litton returning to the side, wicket-keeper Nurul Hasan has been left out.

Pacers Taskin Ahmed and Abdul Gaffar Saqlain are among the others missing from the squad that toured Zimbabwe, while Nahid Rana continues to remain sidelined as he recovers from a side strain. The pace attack still wears a strong look, however, courtesy of the presence of Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam and Hasan Mahmud.

As one of four seeded teams vying for a direct path to the quarterfinals, Bangladesh's Asian Games campaign begins on September 29 in the quarterfinal stage alongside India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
