South Africa complete 3-0 ODI sweep - Esterhuizen 88, Fortuin leads from front

South Africa completed a 3-0 ODI series sweep over Namibia with a dominant nine-wicket victory in Windhoek on September 13, 2026.

Fortuin's Career Best: Stand-in captain Bjorn Fortuin led the bowling attack with a career-best 4 for 33 in his ten overs. Legspinner Nqabayomzi Peter and pace-bowler Kwena Maphaka chipped in with two wickets each to bowl Namibia out for 156.

Namibia's Top-Order Struggles: Alexander Busing-Volschenk (31) and Louren Steenkamp put together a 53-run third-wicket stand, but Fortuin's double-breakthrough dismantled the middle order. A late 31-run last-wicket stand between Zane Green (33) and Max Heingo pushed Namibia past 150.

Dominant Opening Partnership: Jordan Hermann (77 off 65 balls) and Connor Esterhuizen (68* off 60 balls) put the chase beyond doubt with a rapid 150-run opening stand in just 20.3 overs.

Quick Finish: After Hermann fell to Waldo Smith near the finish line, Dewald Brevis sealed the chase inside 22 overs with a six, capping off South Africa's unbeaten tour.

The introduction of spin in the form of Erasmus did not have the same effect as it did in Namibia's innings. Both batters took on the Namibian captain and Hermann reached fifty off him, forcing Erasmus to go back to pace. Smith, playing in his second match, had another nervy time when Hermann went after his short ball but also induced a genuine edge from him that raced to the third man boundary for four.

Esterhuizen's scoring rate increased substantially and he reached fifty off 53 balls. South Africa then needed 31 runs off 32 overs and were in a rush to get it done. Namibia had one moment of joy in the field when Smith got his first ODI wicket when he yorked Hermann. Dewald Brevis sealed the win with a massive six.
