Travis Head Century Seals ODI Series Win for Australia

Australia clinched an unassailable 2–0 series lead over Zimbabwe with a commanding 84-run victory in the second ODI at Harare Sports Club.

Head's Blazing Ton: Opener Travis Head smashed a brutal 112 off 84 balls (15 fours, 3 sixes), setting the stage for Australia to post 356/6—their highest-ever ODI total against Zimbabwe.  

Batting Depth: Head shared a 130-run opening stand with skipper Mitchell Marsh (53 off 63). Youngsters Cooper Connolly (78 off 69) and 19-year-old Oliver Peake (41 off 18) provided late fireworks to power Australia past 350.  

Milestone for Zampa: Leg-spinner Adam Zampa became only the second Australian spinner to reach 200 men's ODI wickets, taking 2 for 62 during Zimbabwe's chase.  

Bowling Effort: Josh Hazlewood (2-48) and Nathan Ellis (1-31) kept tight control as Zimbabwe were bowled out for 272 in 48.3 overs, despite fighting middle-order knocks from Sikandar Raza (45) and Brendan Taylor (39).  

Stanlake Injury: The victory was slightly marred by fast bowler Billy Stanlake, who was forced off the field mid-over with a side strain after bowling 4.2 overs. Evans initially looked like the major beneficiary of the last passage of play as Connolly top-edged a short ball and Brendan Taylor took a good catch. He had Matt Renshaw dropped at short fine leg then caught at deep square leg off successive balls. But his final over was smacked for 24 runs and Evans will want to consider whether back-of-a-length was the right idea as Peake, on 18 at the start of the over, more than doubled his score by the end of it.

Kaia and Taylor shared a 55-run third-wicket stand before the former became Zampa's 200th wicket in the format, bowled by a googly that spun between bat and pad. Taylor and Craig Ervine put on a 44-run stand and had bedded in nicely before Taylor top-edged Peake to deep backward square to give him a maiden international wicket.

Ervine also couldn't kick on when he reverse-swept Zampa to short third and Evans holed out to deep midwicket. The rest was academic as Madhevere had some fun for a 13-ball 26 but then became Hazlewood's first victim, given out lbw. Hazlewood bowled Nyamhuri for a second in the over. Raza and Muzarababi made sure Connolly was among the wickets as Zimbabwe were bowled out in the penultimate over with plenty to think about.
