Wong's 5-33, Bouchier's quickfire 45 too good for Ireland in one-sided 2nd ODI

England Women secured a dominant six-wicket victory over Ireland Women in the 2nd ODI at Derby on September 3, 2026, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Ireland Women: 165 all out (47 overs) | England Women: 166/4 (23 overs) | Result: England Women won by 6 wickets (with 162 balls remaining)

Issy Wong's Maiden Five-For: Fast bowler Issy Wong delivered a career-best performance, taking 5 for 33 to trigger an Irish collapse where the visitors lost their last six wickets for just 25 runs.

Hunter's Grinting Fifty: Amy Hunter anchored Ireland's innings with a laborious 64 off 79 balls—her second consecutive half-century of the tour—sharing a 57-run stand with Leah Paul before Wong broke the partnership.

Bouchier's Quick Start: Fresh off her century in the series opener, Maia Bouchier led the chase with a rapid 45 off 31 balls (including 9 fours), setting a high-tempo platform despite accidentally running out partner Sophia Dunkley. Kemp & Gibson Seal the Win: Following a brief stumble at 119 for 4, Dani Gibson (36* off 21) and Freya Kemp (29* off 17) put together an unbroken 47-run stand off 38 balls, finishing the chase with 27 overs to spare.

But then Bouchier cooked her opening partner in a shocking run-out, dabbing a Kia McCartney delivery straight to Prendergast at cover but running anyway and Dunkley was left with little hope of making her ground.

Bouchier then picked out short backward square leg off a poor delivery from McCartney, who then dispatched Capsey cheaply with one that turned sharply from outside off stump and pinned the pad as the batter leapt back.

Jodi Grewcock, playing her fourth match for England, made a start but couldn't convert, leaving the more experienced duo of Kemp and Gibson to reel in the runs required. Both powerful players, they did the needful on this occasion, while still managing three sixes between them, including two in three balls down the ground for Gibson, which brought up the winning runs.

England 166 for 4 (Bouchier 45, Gibson 36*, Kemp 29*) beat Ireland 165 (Hunter 64, Wong 5-33, Villiers 2-21, Corteen-Coleman 2-32) by six wickets
